Dayananda Sagar University has signed a memorandum of understanding with NVIDIA to establish what it describes as India’s first AI-first factory, supported by an investment exceeding ₹175 crore.
Announced in Bengaluru on 13 February 2026, the initiative will deploy 20 NVIDIA DGX B200 (Blackwell) supercomputing clusters to enable large-scale artificial intelligence model training and deployment. The facility is intended to support multidisciplinary research, strengthen domestic supercomputing capabilities, and align academic training with industry requirements.
The AI factory will operate as a production-grade computing environment within an academic setting, allowing students, researchers and industry partners to develop and test AI systems.
Dr D. Premachandra Sagar, Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Dayananda Sagar University, said the collaboration would enable students and researchers to work on real-world AI applications while contributing to India’s long-term technological development.
The university also plans to establish six industry-integrated Centres of Excellence with a capital expenditure of over ₹50 crore. The centres will focus on healthcare, engineering, defence, cybersecurity, semiconductors, smart mobility and sustainability, and the university is recruiting chief architects to lead the initiative.
In addition, DSU has launched a sustainability and net-zero collaboration with Siemens to develop climate-resilient campus infrastructure using the company’s technologies.
The university aims to train around 20,000 students across disciplines in AI-related fields, including machine learning, generative AI, large language model development, AI platforms, MLOps and domain-specific applications.
DSU will present its AI factory initiative at an industry summit in New Delhi from 16 to 20 February, where it plans to showcase humanoid robotics demonstrations and highlight collaborations with industry partners.
