A team of fourth-year Integrated M.Tech. students from the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore) secured the first and second spots at the CyberShield Hackathon, organised by IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with Bank of India.

Chandrahas Reddy, Sarthak Maheshwari, Harsh Mohta and Arismita Mukherjee, representing Team Vijaya, won Rs.5 lakh for Problem Statement 1 and Rs.3 lakh for Problem Statement 2. The hackathon received more than 3,000 registrations, with 72 teams competing in the final.

Problem Statement 1 focused on identifying and analysing fraudulent mobile applications and malware. The IIIT-Bangalore team developed a Generative AI-based system for automated reverse engineering, static and dynamic analysis, and risk scoring of mobile applications.

“We built a Generative AI-powered solution for automated reverse engineering, static and dynamic analysis, and risk scoring of fraudulent mobile applications and malware,” said Sarthak Maheshwari. “The system helped turn complex APK analysis into a more structured and actionable process.”

Problem Statement 2 focused on detecting mule accounts and financial fraud. The team developed an AI/ML system that combines regulatory and cross-channel banking data with feedback from human analysts to adapt to changing fraud patterns.

“For Problem Statement 2, we built an AI/ML solution to detect mule accounts by combining regulatory and cross-channel banking data with human analyst feedback,” said Arismita Mukherjee. “We were proud to finish on the podium in both tracks of the hackathon.”
