More than 500 young athletes aged six to 16 participated in India’s first Ironkids Triathlon at Canadian International School, Bengaluru. The event brought together participants from Goa, West Bengal and the US, with more than 1,500 parents, school leaders and spectators attending.
The participants competed in swimming, cycling and running across age-specific categories, experiencing a triathlon format adapted to their age groups. The event aimed to promote fitness, resilience and sportsmanship among young athletes.
First-time triathlete Akirra said she was proud to participate despite finding the swimming leg challenging. She said the experience taught her to maintain a steady pace to conserve energy for the subsequent stages of the race.
Speaking at the event, Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School, Bengaluru, said, “Ironkids is about building confidence, encouraging active lifestyles, and proving to young people that they are capable of extraordinary things.”
Canadian International School’s sports facilities hosted the swimming, cycling and running stages, with safety protocols and transition arrangements in place for the participants.
The event concluded with a finish-line ceremony, where every participant who completed the race received an Ironkids commemorative medal.
