Medhavi Skills University hosted its orientation programme, ‘PRARAMBH’, for the Batch of 2025 at Manan Kendra in Gangtok, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, academicians, students and parents.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the National Anthem and cultural performances by students. A presentation on the university’s development and achievements was also screened.
Addressing the gathering, the university’s Founder and Chancellor said the institution aims to bridge the gap between education and employability by promoting skills-based learning and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to approach their academic journey with curiosity and resilience.
Industry and policy leaders, including Shri Raj Shekhar Joshi, Vice-Chairman of SETU Ayog, Mr Rakesh Prasad of IndiGo, Mr Debmalya Banerjee of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Mr Pankaj Mathur of Felix Hospital and Mr Kalappa KB of Chai Point, spoke on employability, future skills and industry-academia collaboration.
The event featured cultural performances representing various traditions, including Nepali, Assamese, Arunachali and Newari dance forms, alongside musical presentations by students and the university band, The Troopers.
During the ceremony, the university marked its ranking as the fourth-placed institution in the Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2025. The achievement was recognised through a felicitation ceremony and a documentary screening on the university’s 13-year journey.
The Pro-Chancellor and Co-Founder said the university seeks to prepare students not only for employment but also for entrepreneurship, encouraging them to contribute to the goal of a developed India.
The chief guest, Justice Biswanath Somadder, highlighted the role of education in developing integrity, responsibility and practical skills, and said universities have a key role in preparing students for both the workforce and society.
The programme concluded with student engagement activities, addresses by academic leaders and a briefing on the Foundation Programme, aimed at supporting students as they begin university life.
