Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh visited the transitory campus of NAMTECH at IIT Gandhinagar Research Park, where he reviewed the institute’s approach to engineering and technology education.
During the visit, Singh was briefed on NAMTECH’s academic and innovation ecosystem, which focuses on areas including smart manufacturing, semiconductors, sustainability, artificial intelligence and automation. He also toured the institute’s facilities and interacted with members of its board and leadership team.
The minister was introduced to NAMTECH’s Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) platform and its partnerships with industry, academia and technology organisations aimed at supporting research, innovation and workforce development.
Speaking during the visit, Singh said India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires a workforce equipped to support innovation and industrial growth, adding that institutions such as NAMTECH are helping prepare talent for emerging sectors and strengthening the country’s position in science, technology and advanced manufacturing.
Dr Ibrahim Hafeezur Rehman, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NAMTECH, said the institute is focused on bringing together education, research, technology and industry to develop solutions for national priorities while preparing talent for future manufacturing and technology sectors.
The visit highlighted the role of industry-linked education and research in supporting India’s manufacturing and technology ambitions under the Viksit Bharat 2047 roadmap.
