MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) has launched the Prof. Makarand Hastak School of Construction Engineering & Management, which will commence from the 2026–27 academic year. The school aims to prepare professionals for India’s construction and infrastructure sector by integrating engineering, management, technology and industry-led learning.

The School’s flagship programme, an MBA in Construction Management, will focus on Building Information Modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence, digital construction, sustainability, project management and data-driven decision-making. The curriculum combines classroom learning with industry exposure to prepare graduates for roles in construction, infrastructure, real estate, consulting and project management.

MIT-WPU has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Builders Association of India (BAI), Pune Centre, to facilitate internships, live projects, guest lectures, mentoring and placement opportunities for students.

The launch was marked by a round-table conclave on the need for techno-managerial competencies in construction, attended by representatives from BAI, CREDAI, the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), the Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF) and industry experts. Discussions focused on the growing role of AI, BIM, digital construction, sustainability, safety, communication and project management in the sector.

The university has announced merit scholarships for the inaugural batch. The first 20 eligible students, comprising 10 girls and 10 boys, will receive a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver, while the next 20 eligible students will receive a 20 per cent waiver, subject to the university’s scholarship norms.
