Motorica India has concluded a three-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme at PDUNIPPD, focusing on advancements in socket technology for trans-humeral myoelectric prostheses.
The programme brought together students, clinicians, prosthetists and orthotists for practical training, combining clinical expertise with technical inputs. Sessions included demonstrations, workshops and lab-based learning on socket design, material selection and device customisation to improve comfort, functionality and long-term use.
Participants were introduced to live EMG assessments using Motorica systems to understand muscle signal capture and movement translation. Training also covered casting techniques, lamination, fitting trials, functional testing, app-based tuning and patient training simulations.
The initiative follows a previous training session conducted by Motorica in Bengaluru at Mobility India Institute, which focused on emerging technologies such as photogrammetry. The CRE programme saw participation from certified prosthetists and orthotists, students and faculty from across India.
Pandian, Head of Department, Prosthetics and Orthotics at PDUNIPPD, said the programme supports skill development and helps professionals adapt to evolving technologies and clinical practices.
Kavinder Beniwal, Chief Operational Officer at Motorica India, said the collaboration aims to equip practitioners with skills aligned with advancements in prosthetic care and improve patient outcomes.
The programme is part of Motorica’s broader education initiatives in India, including its University of Medical Cybernetics platform, which offers online learning for prosthetics professionals. The first session, titled “Human First: Patient Interaction in Prosthetic Care,” addresses patient engagement following amputation, covering physical, psychological and social aspects of recovery.
The initiative highlights collaboration between institutions and technology providers to strengthen rehabilitation services and prosthetic care in India.
