India — Cape Breton University (CBU) and the National Economic Forum (NEF) have signed a non-commercial Service and Cooperation Agreement to support CBU’s engagements in India and strengthen higher education collaboration between the two countries.
The agreement was signed by David C. Dingwall, President and Vice-Chancellor of CBU, and Jagdip Rana, Executive Director of NEF, during a delegation visit to India.
Under the MoU, NEF will serve as CBU’s convening partner in India, facilitating engagement with stakeholders across central and state governments and academic institutions. The partnership will focus on student mobility, faculty exchange, institutional partnerships, and research collaboration.
NEF will also support stakeholder mapping, outreach and the structuring of engagements, including roundtables and institutional interactions aimed at advancing collaboration.
Dingwall said India remains a priority for CBU, citing opportunities for institutional collaboration, student pathways and research partnerships. Rana said the agreement aims to translate academic intent into structured collaboration by bringing together government and institutional stakeholders.
The agreement is expected to lead to further initiatives, including joint research programmes and academic exchanges, contributing to the development of India–Canada higher education linkages.
