More than 13,000 teaching posts remain vacant in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVs) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (JNVs) across India, the Ministry of Education informed the Lok Sabha.
Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary said in a written reply that 8,618 vacancies exist in KVs and 5,083 in JNVs.
He said vacancies arise due to the opening of new schools, retirements, resignations, promotions, transfers, and deputation of staff, as well as school upgradation.
The minister stated that filling vacancies is an ongoing process carried out in accordance with recruitment rules. He added that both KVs and JNVs engage teachers on a contractual basis to maintain continuity in teaching.
Chaudhary said efforts are being made to recruit regular teachers at the earliest and that student performance has remained consistent over the years.
