Scaler has launched a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Specialisation as part of its Modern Software Engineering programme and announced a ₹25 crore investment to train 10,000 engineers over the next two years to support enterprise AI deployment.
The company said the initiative responds to growing demand for engineers who can deploy AI systems within enterprise environments. Citing the GenAI Divide: State of AI in Business 2025 report by MIT NANDA, Scaler noted that nearly 95 percent of enterprise generative AI pilots fail to deliver measurable business impact, underscoring the challenges of AI implementation. It also cited rising global demand for Forward Deployed Engineers as organisations expand enterprise AI adoption.
According to Scaler, Indian demand for the role is increasing across Global Capability Centres (GCCs), IT services companies and AI firms. The company’s India AI Workforce Report 2026 found AI roles expanding beyond software engineering into consulting, leadership and business functions, while its Confidence-Capability Gap Report, conducted with CyberMedia Research (CMR), found that although 89 percent of engineers consider themselves AI-ready, only 19 percent are actively building AI systems.
The 7.5-month FDE Specialisation will cover AI and large language model engineering, backend and full-stack development, cloud computing, enterprise integration, system design and security. The programme will include enterprise simulations, live deployment scenarios and hands-on projects in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI and enterprise AI deployment workflows. Participants will also receive training in stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving and communication.
Commenting on the launch, Amar Srivastava, CEO–Online and Group CPO, Scaler, said the next phase of AI adoption will focus on deploying models within businesses rather than only developing them. He added that the programme aims to equip engineers with both technical capabilities and business skills required to deliver AI solutions in enterprise settings.
