The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on a plea filed by a student from Saudi Arabia seeking declaration of his Class 12 improvement examination result.
A Bench comprising Justices Manmohan and Vijay Bishnoi directed the CBSE and its regional officer to respond to the petition filed by Pransu Jigarkumar Patel.
Observing that the matter concerned the student’s academic future and admission prospects, the court asked CBSE’s counsel to obtain instructions on the issue.
Patel, who appeared as a private candidate in the CBSE Class 12 improvement examination in Saudi Arabia, alleged that his result had not been declared despite an assessment scheme being framed for students affected by the cancellation of examinations in several Gulf countries.
The petition stated that the non-declaration of the result had affected his higher education opportunities and admission prospects. It also claimed that representations submitted to the CBSE on 17 May, 21 May and 30 May received no response.
The CBSE had cancelled Class 12 board examinations in seven Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, following escalating tensions linked to the Iran-Israel-US conflict.
