Cynthia John shares three healthy and flavourful fruit cooler recipes for summer

Tropical mango cooler (4 servings)
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup milk
- 2 medium-sized mangoes
- 3 tsp desiccated coconut
- 1 passion fruit
- 4 mint leaves
- 2 tbsp sugar
Preparation guide
- Peel and chop mangoes.
- Blend mangoes with sugar in a mixer. Add milk and blend again.
- Add desiccated coconut and blend briefly.
- Cut passion fruit and scrape out seeds.
- Pour blended ingredients into a glass and top with passion fruit seeds.
- Mix in the seeds and set aside for ten minutes before serving. Garnish with mint leaves.
Health benefits
Mangoes are rich in fibre, aiding digestion. They also contain vitamins A, C and E, boosting skin and eye health and immunity. Passion fruit is rich in potassium and reduces inflammation.

Jackfruit cooler (4 servings)
Ingredients
- 12 pieces of jackfruit
- 1 cup yoghurt
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 pinch cinnamon powder
Preparation guide
- Cut one piece of jackfruit into small bits. Set aside.
- Remove seeds and additional fibre strands from the jackfruit pieces.
- Blend banana, jackfruit, yoghurt and honey until smooth.
- Check consistency. Add a little milk to get the desired consistency.
- Add bits of chopped jackfruit.
- Top with a sprinkling of cinnamon powder.
Health benefits
Jackfruit is rich in potassium, magnesium and vitamins A and C, and cancer-fighting antioxidants. Bananas provide potassium, calcium and carbohydrates. This drink improves immunity, digestion and heart health.

Pineapple chia cooler
(3 servings)
Ingredients
- 1 large pineapple
- 4 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 banana
- 1 cup yoghurt
Preparation guide
- Soak chia seeds in 1 tsp water and 1 tsp honey. Set aside.
- Peel the pineapple and cut it into chunks.
- Ensure the pineapple is ripe and sweet.
- Chop the banana.
- Blend pineapple pieces in a mixer until smooth.
- Add banana, yoghurt and 1 tsp honey. If the pineapple isn’t sweet enough, add more honey. Blend until smooth.
- Pour into tall glasses and top with chia seeds.
Health benefits
Pineapple is rich in manganese, which promotes bone health and density. It also contains bromelain, a group of enzymes that break down protein, aid digestion and fight inflammation. Yoghurt is rich in probiotics, promoting gut health.
