A video showing a school principal in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi arguing with a parent has circulated widely on social media, drawing criticism.
The footage appears to show the principal, identified as Mamta Mishra, repeatedly telling a mother to “shut up” during a dispute over the purchase of school books. The exchange reportedly took place after the parent declined to buy notebooks worth ₹1,200 from the school.
In the video, the principal is heard raising her voice, using phrases such as “get lost” and allegedly calling the parent a “bloody fool” and “gawar”. The parent, identified as Neelam Verma, claimed she was threatened with her child’s removal from the school register and publicly humiliated.
The clip has been shared widely on social media platforms, with users highlighting the repeated use of the phrase “you shut up” within a short span.
Following the backlash, the principal issued a clarification, stating that the viral clip shows only a small portion of a longer interaction that lasted around three hours. She alleged that the video had been edited and did not reflect the full context of the incident.
She further said that the parents were pressing for a reduction in an admission fee of ₹1,300. According to her statement, the exchange took place during a vaccination drive, and she had asked the parent to raise concerns at a later time.
No official statement from local education authorities has been reported so far, but the principal has posted a video on social media recording regarding her version of the event.
