Abby Lighting & Switchgear Ltd, in partnership with CRY – Child Rights and You, has inaugurated a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Centre at T. L. Patil Aided Secondary Ashram School in Padghe, Palghar.
The initiative will support 250 students from Standards 6 to 9, providing access to hands-on science learning and technology-led education. The centre is designed to move beyond textbook-based teaching towards experiential learning through experimentation and problem-solving.
The facility includes more than 100 curriculum-aligned learning models across Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Technology, mapped to the NCERT syllabus. Students will engage with models such as Newton’s Cradle, solar eclipse simulations, DNA structures and geometry kits. The technology module introduces tools including 3D printing, virtual reality, robotics and sensor-based automation.
The programme aims to address gaps in access to laboratory infrastructure and learning resources in underserved regions, while supporting academic engagement and scientific learning. A focus area is increasing participation of girls in STEM education.
Kreeanne Rabadi said the initiative seeks to improve access to quality education and create equal learning opportunities, particularly for students in regions with limited infrastructure.
Rachna Bajaj Joshi said the centre is intended to support inquiry-based learning and provide students with exposure to science and technology from an early stage.
The inauguration was attended by CRY representatives, local leaders and school stakeholders. The initiative forms part of Abby Lighting & Switchgear’s corporate social responsibility efforts focused on education and community development.
